And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well, that’s where I belong
And you belong with me

And I could write it down
Or spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
Or swallowed in the sea

Coco before Chanel

I just saw a couple of days ago “Coco before Chanel” and I must say I loved it. It was fascinating and Audrey Tatou’s act is impeccable.

Fun facts:

—>From 1934 to 1971 Coco Chanel made the Hotel Ritz, Paris, France her home. A suite, in honor of her memory, has been named after her: the Coco Chanel Suite.

—>Costume continuity during the scene where “Boy” allows Coco to drive the motorcar. When they eventually stop the car, Coco is wearing a white scarf which she was not wearing when she first got into the car.

—>When looking out on the English Chanel on the beach in Deauville, Coco is wearing a heavy overcoat. Moments later when “Boy” joins her, the overcoat is gone.

—>When playing polo, Etienne wields the mallet with his left hand, which is currently forbidden by the rules but was not at the time the scene occurs.

Quotes: “A woman who cuts her hair, is about to change her life.”

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

”As long as you know men are like children, you know everything!”

“Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress.”

“Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.”

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”

“Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.”

“Fashion is made to become unfashionable.”

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

“Great loves too must be endured.”

“Guilt is perhaps the most painful companion of death.”

“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but to be someone.

“I don’t know why women want any of the things men have when one the things that women have is men.”

“I invented my life by taking for granted that everything I did not like would have an opposite, which I would like.”

“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”

“Jump out the window if you are the object of passion. Flee it if you feel it. Passion goes, boredom remains.”

“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.”

“There is no time for cut-and-dried monotony. There is time for work. And time for love. That leaves no other time!”

Pablo Neruda

Enjoy.

Leaning Into The Afternoons

Leaning into the afternoons I cast my sad nets
towards your oceanic eyes.

There in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames,
its arms turning like a drowning man’s.

I send out red signals across your absent eyes
that smell like the sea or the beach by a lighthouse.

You keep only darkness, my distant female,
from your regard sometimes the coast of dread emerges.

Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets
to that sea that is thrashed by your oceanic eyes.

The birds of night peck at the first stars
that flash like my soul when I love you.

The night gallops on its shadowy mare
shedding blue tassels over the land.

Perhaps not to be is to be without your being

Perhaps not to be is to be without your being,
without your going, that cuts noon light
like a blue flower, without your passing
later through fog and stones,
without the torch you lift in your hand
that others may not see as golden,
that perhaps no one believed blossomed
the glowing origin of the rose,
without, in the end, your being, your coming
suddenly, inspiringly, to know my life,
blaze of the rose-tree, wheat of the breeze:
and it follows that I am, because you are:
it follows from ‘you are’, that I am, and we:
and, because of love, you will, I will,
We will, come to be.

Make love NOT war by Steven Meisel

Yesterday I was with my friend and two other 4 other people to a studio. Yeah, experimenting. Turned out fine but could’ve been better. Although, I love how the photographer can play with the light, and with the shades, creating new shapes. Hope you like it :)
